Position Summary
Support NOAA/NMFS with economic analysis for protected-species regulatory actions, including critical habitat designations and regulatory impact analyses. Conduct quantitative and qualitative economic analysis and prepare reports supporting formal rulemaking.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct economic impact, cost-benefit, and cost-effectiveness analyses.
- Assess economic impacts of critical habitat designations and regulatory alternatives.
- Collect, evaluate, and analyze economic and statistical data.
- Apply econometric, quantitative, and qualitative methods to complex economic issues.
- Prepare technical economic analyses and regulatory documentation.
- Analyze economic effects of protected marine species management actions.
- Coordinate with biologists and stakeholders on data, assumptions, and findings.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of relevant experience; Bachelor’s or Master’s degree typically expected.
- Strong knowledge of economic assessment and impact analysis.
- Experience with econometric, statistical, quantitative, and qualitative economic studies.
- Experience analyzing natural-resource or environmental regulatory impacts.
- Strong technical writing and analytical skills.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and obtain required credentials.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with critical habitat economics, Regulatory Impact Analysis (RIA), or Regulatory Flexibility Act (RFA).
- Experience supporting ESA, MMPA, NEPA, or environmental rulemaking.
- Natural-resource or environmental economics experience
This is a remote position.
Compensation: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
